Mothers celebrate their day at Jazz in the Bay concert
Mothers gathered to enjoy the sights and sounds of Jazz music Sunday, April 8 at the inaugural Mother's Day Jazz in the Bay concert presented by SBC Community Development Corporation (SBC CDC).
Miami-Dade Commissioner Dennis Moss brought greetings and welcomed the cabaret-styled
seated guests to the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center.
Host, 88.9 FM WDNA Afternoon DJ, Michael Valentine, emceed the concert and entertainingly kept the show moving. Jazz vocalist Kevin Mahogany, Jazz vocalist Brenda Alfred and the Richmond Heights Middle School Jazz Band gave lively performances. Headliner Bobby Watson All Star Quartet and Curtis Lundy received a standing ovation to close out the night.
Special guests in attendance were state Sen. Dwight Bullard, Moss, and Pastor Alphonso Jackson of Second Baptist Church and President of SBC Community Development Corporation.
SBC CDC began serving the heart of the Richmond Heights community in 2003. SBC CDC is a non-profit corporation whose primary mission is to build a solid community through collaborative efforts and partnerships that provide programs and services that address the intergenerational needs of the community.
